Mayfair Collection Grand Opening

The new Mayfair Collection in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin opens today and J3 Engineering Group took part in designing the storefronts. We engineered the cold formed steel structure and framing.  To see pictures of the building progress, prior to the grand opening check out this link.

Located at highway 45 and Burleigh, this was once home to a Roundy’s  and Kohl’s Food Stores warehouse. The old structure was reused, but has been transformed into a retail shopping center including stores like Nordstrom Rack and Saks Fifth Avenue, which are new to Wisconsin.

The festivities started early this morning with gift card giveaways, food, live music, and more.

Latitude 45

Latitude 45

Latitude 45

Recently, our cold formed steel department was asked to assist in the engineering of a new development in Minneapolis, Minnesota known as Latitude 45.  Latitude 45 will include 320 upscale apartments as well as a restaurant and retail space. The construction cost for this building is over $70 million and will be just a few blocks from the new Vikings stadium.

Large non-load bearing panels will be designed and modeled using Autodesk Revit. These large panels are unique to the building since typically panels are created in smaller sections and pieced together.

Latitude 45 is anticipated to be completed by Summer of 2015.

US Bank Stadium

US Bank Stadium

US Bank Stadium

Just in time for football season, the U.S. Bank Stadium is now open. The construction project took 31 months to build and is 1.7 million square feet. There are over 66,000 seats that can host NFL football and a variety of other sports and events. The roof on the south side, composed of Ethylene Tetra Fluoro Ethylene (ETFE) is the largest roof of its kind in North America.

The stadium features large freestanding interior walls along with large concession openings that needed to support multiple televisions. J3 Engineering Group was able to provide guidelines for stud sizes and wall heights to allow for a smoother installation process. In addition, we assisted in determining load capacity of the walls and provided bracketing information to ensure building codes were met. J3 remained on call, providing guidance and addressing field concerns throughout the building process to keep the project on schedule.

The stadium opened July 22, 2016 and the first Vikings game of the NFL season will be held September 18, 2016 with the Minnesota Vikings vs. the Green Bay Packers.

Jesse White Community Center

Jesse White Community Center

The newly constructed Jesse White Community Center and Field House is now home to the Jesse White Tumblers-named after the secretary of state-Jesse White. This is part of a youth development program in the Chicago area where children and teens entertain with their acrobatic performances worldwide during sporting events. The building includes gymnasiums, fitness rooms, and office and administrative facilities.

J3 Engineering Group worked with a light gauge steel supplier to provide engineering calculations and drawings for the exterior cold-formed steel framing. With a location in “the windy city,” this new establishment needed to be designed to sustain strong winds. To ensure stability of the building, J3 engineered proper frame connections that were heavy enough to withstand high winds.

The field house is nearly 30,000 square feet with two gymnasiums and is part of the Jesse White Foundation and the Chicago Park district. It opened in September of 2014.

AMC Theater Platform

AMC Theaters

An AMC movie theater in Spokane, Washington was undergoing upgrades and needed a new platform for seating. This new platform required cold-formed steel framing installed on top of the existing theater floor. Since we work closely with the suppliers of cold-formed steel products, the stud manufacturer referred the contractor to J3 due to our familiarity with engineering theater platform upgrades.

J3 provided cold-formed steel engineering, our services included shop drawings and calculations for studs and connections for the platform. To keep cost down, the primary seating risers were designed using less material and labor with smaller stud sizes. In addition, calculations were completed to determine loads for handrails in the handicap area and the new reclining chairs.

This project is complete and the theater is open for guests to enjoy updated and comfortable seating.
